| Skeet's Custom Rods is dedicated to building the finest fishing rods available. Skeet's rods are built using the New Guide Concept System. The information provided in this section is designed to help you understand why a rod built using this system improves rod performance. What is it? The "New Guide Concept System" emphasizes guide size, number, and placement on the rod to maximize performance. Why do we use it? Even a rod blank manufactured from the lightest and strongest fibers can't deliver optimum performance without the right guides. By carefully choosing the type, size, and placement of the guides, we are able to maximize the performance of our rods. What are the advantages? Greater Sensitivity: A lighter rod tip and guides increases the vibration wave dramatically. Greater Castability: Tests have proven that casting distance is improved by up to 10% using the New Guide Concept System. Increased Accuracy: By using smaller rings and a lower profile, the New Guide Concept System reduces twists or torque, and wind resistance. The line is aligned with the blank and casting accuracy and efficiency is improved. Improved Weight Balance: By using smaller, lighter guides the rod is better balanced, providing a rod that is easier on the wrist and less fatiguing during a full day of fishing. Greater Hooking Power: Hooking power is affected by the number of guides on the rod. More guides increase hooking power by keeping the line close to the rod. There is less power loss with the New Guide Concept System so your chances of setting the hook and landing the fish are greatly increased. Reduced Line Twist: Line twist is reduced on a spinning rod when using the New Guide Concept System. The number of casts made by a fisherman in a day's time can create havoc with line twist. With the New Guide Concept System, more guides lessen the angle as line passes through the guide, reducing pressure on the guide, and in turn the amount of line twist when casting and retrieving repeatedly. Maximizes Rod Power: A rod equipped with the New Guide Concept System can shorten the landing time of a fish by up to 35%. As a rod is powered back when fighting a fish, drag resistance from the reel and guides are at a maximum. More guides will maximize the total drag resistance as well as improving the rods action. |
